HTML Fundamentals Tutorial

Learn HTML by building real pages: structure, content, forms and accessible markup

Beginner4 lessonsabout 21 min of reading

This course is for anyone who wants to understand what a web page actually is before reaching for a framework. If you have copied snippets from a tutorial and never been sure why they work, or you are about to learn CSS, JavaScript or React and want a solid base, start here. You only need a text editor and a browser.

Across four lessons you will write complete small documents and predict what the browser renders before you open it. You will structure a page with semantic elements, publish text, links, images and video correctly, build a form that validates itself without JavaScript, and finish by making the markup friendly to screen readers and search engines.

The order matters. Lesson one gives you the skeleton every page needs and the vocabulary of semantic elements. Lesson two fills that skeleton with content. Lesson three adds interaction through forms. Lesson four goes back over everything with an accessibility and SEO lens, so you can review your own pages like a professional. When you are ready for styling, continue with CSS Fundamentals.
