Cloud Computing Fundamentals Tutorial
Understand IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, regions, networking, storage choices, cost and security without tying yourself to one provider
Beginner4 lessonsabout 24 min of reading
This course is for students, career changers and developers who keep seeing the word "cloud" in job descriptions and architecture diagrams and want a clear, provider-neutral foundation before touching any one vendor's console. No prior cloud experience is needed. If you can describe what a web server and a database do, you have enough background.
You will learn the service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and who is responsible for what, how regions and availability zones shape reliability and latency, how a cloud network is laid out, how to choose between virtual machines, containers and serverless and between object, block and file storage, and the habits that keep cloud bills and security risks under control. Several lessons include small runnable Python programs (network planning, availability arithmetic, a cost model) and worked text examples; any prices in them are invented for illustration.
The lessons go from vocabulary to layout to decisions to discipline: responsibility models first, then where things physically and logically live, then which building blocks to pick for a ticket-booking website, and finally how to keep that system affordable, available and safe. When you are ready to see these ideas on one platform, continue with AWS Fundamentals.
